HI all, I just uploaded a number of George Uveges photos from the 1970 World Championships at Marfa TX. I have another set that I will be uploading in the next day or two. Thanks to George for allowing these to be publicly posted and to the NSM for loaning out the slides for digitization. I now have access to equipment to digitize just about any sort of film or video media. I would like to gather as much content as possible. Please e-mail me if you have any materials you would like to contribute. Website he http://www.flickr.com/photos/4957907...7642545270585/ Best regards, Kevin 2C Thanks Kevin, those are great! I remember the Phoebus SX being in Ephrata in 71. Full left rudder revealed a small "E" on the hingeline. It was pretty funny to a 12 year old. Good memories. Craig |

Marginally related:
Does anybody know where I could get a bio or other material about Joe Lincoln, who wrote the contest report on the 1970 Worlds for Soaring Magazine? I know he wrote prodigiously about soaring in the US, but my usual Web resources are not turning up much. Thanks, Bob K. |

Bob, Here's the URL to some very basic info on Joe Lincoln: http://harrishillsoaring.org/doc/lincoln.htm Also, you can read a lot more in the July 1975 issues of Soaring (this can be found on-line via the SSA website. There is a memorial article about Joe Lincoln beginning on page 24 called "Remembering Joe Lincoln." Thx - Renny |

I mean no computer driven air data computers, GPS, FLARM, glide computers, moving maps or transponders? And no tracking or SPOT? Surely this was the height of living dangerously. Plus what did they have to talk about on RAS? |

Wow. People were so much younger and thinner back then. The gliders by contrast have hardly changed.

All this Marfa talk reminded me of meeting Billy Shurley there and being
invited to his ranch home. These days I fly his Ag Wagon at Moriarty (it has a plaque on the panel). I knew he was a nice man, but reading his obituary was an eye opener: http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg...&GRid=50845870 R.I.P, Billy. "Andrew Brayer" wrote in message ...
