Default Lift Is Good!

"Green"... Hahahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

I say that because just the other day one of the airport bums told me
that his daughter drives a "green" Tesla. He also told me that, where
she lives, all of the electricity (read that recharging her car) is
generated by burning coal. I just shake my head.

Of course, other than a gallon or two of gas (less on a ground launch)
the sailplane is pretty "green". Except that it's generally white. ;-)

Here's an idea: a silhouette of something akin to the Concordia with the words "Fly Open". ;-)

And another, kind of a double entendre. GREEN AIR for me!

Dan, the model sailplane guys call thermals "green air", nothing environmentally correct about that. I know it sounds funny and I cringe every time I hear it.

Green air comes from the old pellet varios that had green for up and red for down. This was all before we knew there was something called the "environment".

I get it now, a nod to the past. I'm all for that!

I've got a lot of respect for RC pilots having tried it myself in the
early 70s. For me each flight ended with a complete rebuild... :-[

Those are good. I've also thought about making one with a 25m open class ship flying over a 13m with the relative wingspans fully apparent and the tag line something like: Size Matters.

"Green Air" was a term we used in the very early days of Hang Gliding, when we were experimenting with the old Makiki pellet variometers. In lift, the green pellet would float in its tube (hence "green air") and when sinking, the red pellet would rise. I am sure a lot of oldtimers in the sailplane world also remember this.
