Some years ago in a posting about the same topic, somebody (I do not
remember the name) recommended:
"If your VSI reads too high, extend the spoilers a little bit, untill your
vario shows the expected value."

For some reason, even full extension doesn't get me to the expected value
when checking the panel, pre-flight.
