We fly a double-handicapped contest in the spring at my club; both glider and pilot (determined by P1 flying time) are handicapped. It's very difficult for a highly experienced pilot to win - which challenges them, and keeps it interesting for the rest.

Thanks for sharing John. That is why I am pushing for keeping it blind racing so you don't know who you are flying against that day until the finals. Would keep it interesting and exciting. I could see how it could also foster team flying with other friends because the likelyhood at least at the beginning of your flying against each other is low. Americans practicing more team flying is not a bad thing at this point...
