Finally!

We are all aware of the appalling deficit in soaring in this country.
Every year it gets worse. *Fewer and fewer pilots enter the sport. And
our numbers continue to dwindle. *It is nice to hear that finally
there is some awareness of this important national issue at the
highest levels of government. *I am eager to hear what the President
will propose.

Matt Jr.

The President will likely propose a stimulus program for soaring.
Grants to clubs and commercial operators can be expected, as well as a
hefty bootstraps program for the underpriviledged and long-suffering
low performance glider owners. Sources indicate this will be
accomplished with a cash for clunkers scheme whereby all gliders with
a L/D of less than 40:1 will receive vouchers redeemable for a new
ASG-29. Clunkers traded in will be offered free to foreign pilots
competing in the 2012 WGC in Uvalde.

Expect the President to announce that Treasury Secretary Geithner will
spearhead additional fiscal initiatives such as USAF TDY flight
instructors, a Boeing replacement for Blaniks, a billion Dollar R+D
effort to perfect a thermal detector and a free ClearNavs for pellet
vario exchange.

When asked for their views on the soaring deficit, Republicans
repeated their support of Open Class owners and said they would
fillibuster any attempt to increase the burden on Arcus, Antares and
ASG-31 owners.

Post of the week, bravo Karl.

I think the VSA would be against a cash for clunkers program though.
Maybe we should talk to the 1-26 association about loaners for the
2012 worlds?
