the forecast winds to pick up for some ridge soaring... and they did.. about 3pm... but we had been watching high altitude wave all day.. just took to the afternoon to get the winds down to our local ridge.. Fortunately airports close under most severe weather circumstances for our safety. On 10-31-91 at 9.00 PM we taxied back to the gate DCA due to nasty winds (my call).
