After a while my god daughter asked me, "Unca Jim, how come that man keeps
calling you Charlie?"

To which I replied, "That's all right, honey... I call him Roger." G

I had a first time passenger that was curious about pilot's and
controller's obsession with alcohol. After having listened to the
tower for about 10 min., he correctly noticed that most inbound pilots
announced that they "have whiskey" and if they didn't say it, the
tower would ask if they had whiskey.

It does spill over into other social settings. We tend to know a lot about
flying, want to talk about, but keep getting stuck with people who couldn't
care less. We don't want to be bores, so we clam up. While everyone else is
talking about potty-training their three year olds, we are thinking about
flying.

We use odd language. Even family members pick it up. Someone asked my wife
just the other day why she said she was "departing the fix" as she was
leaving. :-)

Being Mr Mom, I can discuss that topic with some experience.
Boys take longer than girls.
Want more details?

Heck, no. Even my grandchildren are past that stage (although I just found
out that we have another one on the way -- Yippee!).
