Endorsement required for CFIG written?

I just went through that same argument with another 50yr old memory..

But, you need to retake the FOI, you will need to complete the Commercial
and CFIG check rides... and "I gotta go look this one up", the transition
to
"other aircraft" only counts when transitioning from AIRPLANE to other
categories.

So you "may" need to take the Commercial Glider written, but you WILL need
to take the Glider Instructor written (not the FOI).

I did this about 5 years ago. I had CFIA and Private Glider.

Only had to take 25 question CFIG Knowledge Test, No endorsement
required. I got one anyway it was just easier.

One Practical Test with an FAA Examiner for Both Commercial and CFIG.
Appropriate endorsements required for both ratings.
