No, I was third owner but it only had 35 hours on it.
Apparently the original buy was during on of those Maule "sales" (inventory clearance). The original bill of sale was for $59K. They just put it in a hangar and sat on it for a year. Then sold to a guy Delaware who put some equipment in it but didn't fly it either. Then he listed in Trade-a-Plane - and I was ready. Next day air delivery of TAP allowed me to get a jump on my little jewel. It was one of those good deals that you just had to be first on. So here I sit trying to figure out how to keep paint on it. Go take the test flight, and when you're done, look the salesman in the eye

Ever since my name has appeared in the FAA database as an aircraft owner, I've been receiving letters and cards from various new aircraft manufacturers asking me to take a test flight. So far, I've received one from Cirrus, Lanceair, and Beechcraft. Has anyone else had this happen to them? Is this just a recent phenomena or is it because I now appear as a owner? I never received these when I was a renter. I'm really tempted to take the test flights, but I really don't want to have to deal with the salesperson afterward. |

That used to work. Nowadays he'd see that as a challenge. They probably
could/would finance someone in the middle of a bankrupcy today. My company sells software into companies in bankcrupty all the time (telcos). Its great because the court makes sure you get paid. -Robert |

I talked to the salesman at Sun-N-Fun and indicated my interest in an Eagle. He just would not leave me alone, even after I told him I was considering bankruptcy. Funny thing is that, shortly after the news about Mooney having financial difficulties started making the news. The salesman was adamant about Mooney being stable until the official bankruptcy was filed. |

Wait until your name shows up as an aircraft owner. I get something
almost every day in the mail from brokers wanting to sell my plane or paint places, to insurance sales people, etc. I just toss them out without really looking at them now. |

What seems to trigger this is a change in the registration - I got a
bunch of these after I bought out my partner, but now maybe once a month only. |
