Try StGeorge UT...
when I did my long x-c for the commercial.. I launched from VGT and "repositioned" to Mesquite NV. And started my "official" x-c from there. Mesquite to SanDiego Gillespie field did the trick. Maybe you can go south first.. land.. regroup and start your 250nm x-c from the southern point to VGT or Mesquite or St George. Then return to Hawthorne. BT "Yossarian" wrote in message ups.com... Thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunately Las Vegas is only 203 miles so it isn't far enough. Phoenix is 317 which is a little far... I'm looking for something just over 250. I don't have charts for that area yet, I gotta stop by the airport after work today. Brien K. Meehan wrote: Yeah, do two different W&B worksheets. Kingman, AZ is 231nm if flown direct but I bet you could bend your route
around some getting out of SoCal airspace and stretch it to 250.X .. Jay Beckman PP-ASEL Chandler, AZ Bending routes does not count... it is straight line distance. otherwise I could go south, 100nm, east 50 nm and north 100nm and be maybe 50nm from home. Does not count. BT |

I went up to Oakland this past summer, so I was thinking something more easterly. I'll be in a Cessna 172RG. I'm just going to fly out and back, departing Hawthorne in the afternoon so the return leg will be at night and count towards my 5 solo night hours. Is Rose Aviation still there at Hawthorne?? That doesn't work, you can reposition to a "departure point"
that is far enough away to meet the requirements. There is nothing wrong with exceeding the 250 mile distance. -- James H.
