A special DC convention center for POTUS visits? I can just see that: " He's got a presidential throne. We have to make a pilgrimmage now?" That is pretty much what Lyndon Johnson did. He had his chair placed higher than visitors so he could look down on them and they had to look up at him. I once toured one of LBJs "air force one" aircraft. Seems he couldn't quit fiddling with the thermostat. So the crew just disconnected it. He still fiddled, and was happy, but it wasn't doing anything at all. Come to think of it, I think he raised the chair on that aircraft, too.. |

The Columbus DISPATCH has an article saying that Bush will be in Dublin (northwest side of Columbus) for a speech at WENDY'S INTERNATIONAL (Wendy's hamburghers) at 12:15 on Wednesday, Feburuary 15. Wendy's headquarters is one mile northwest of KOSU, The Ohio State University Airport-Don Scott Field. Bush will will either land at Rickenbacker (KLCK) or Port Columbus (KCMH). In any event, a 30 nm radius TFR will effectively shut down every airport in Central Ohio (Franklin, Delaware, Knox, Licking, Fairfield, Pickaway, Madison, Union Counties (and a five others that I cannot remember the names of). Considering that Franklin County alone has 600 registered aircraft and several hundred pilots, and that Central Ohio is the home of several national/international companies with large aviation departments, this is going to cause some headaches (just as it does everywhere else). Perhaps we can get Cheney to take him hunting while he's here. Neil |

Wendy's headquarters is only half a mile up the hill from the river. (Makes you wonder where they get that "fresh" fish, daily?) "Olentangy" means "square fish" :P Thanks for the heads up on the TFR John, you've beat both the AOPA TFR emails, and PilotWeb. g Pat Preflight Pro - www.notduats.com |

Back when I was in Columbus, ('76-'80) if you fell in the Olentangy, they took you right to the student health center, to give you shots for typhoid, dysentery, and who knows what else! Is it any cleaner, now? -- Jim in NC |

Is it any cleaner, now? Yes the "Old and Grungy" is much cleaner now. However, Wendy's is near the Scioto. The Olentangy is three miles farther east. |
