Request for Germany driving information.

I have an ASG29 T on order for delivery later this year. I will be
interested to hear of his
experience and comments on the 29.

Three rules for driving in Germany:

1.Never pass on the right.
2. Never cruise on the left.
3. When you're indicating 160mph, keep an eye on the rear-view mirror.

I doubt that Avis provided you a car with a tow hook. I don't know any car
rental companys in the US that will rent you a car that you can use for
towing. The only option over here, unless you find a small local rental
place, is to rent a truck from U-Haul.

When I last went to the US, I called a local Avis here in Denmark and
told them what I needed (type of car, navigation system etc). When I
got to EWR, a car was ready for pickup. He could try that.

When he rents the car, he should make sure it includes a navigation
system. It's quite common over here and the maps are very good, so he
should be able to get turn-by-turn navigation from the airport to
Schleicher and on to Eskiltuna. It will also be very handy in the
period where he's in Sweden.

Another option would be to buy something like a Garmin nüvi 350 with
the City Navigator Europe maps.

It is probably difficult to find a car rental company that hires
out cars with tow-hooks. (Rent a Wreck might do, but my
personal experience with them was pretty bad...). I recommend
you to check with the Schleicher factory if they have any contacts.
(Perhaps you could rent a car from Avis/Hertz etc and swap cars with one
of the Schleicher employees during the Worlds.)

planner in Europe as pointed out already. On the way north, you
could either pass through Denmark via the (fairly expensive) toll
bridges or take a ferry from Northern Germany to Sweden.

Personally I have found the ferries from Rostock or Travemunde to
Trelleborg convenient, as you have the possibility of getting a few

And whe you do 160mph with the COBRA trailer and the ASG 29, hold on to
the steering wheel and watch out for police.
