There's probably a good #5 in somewhere, but I have to say: If I were going to spend $800 on the DC X11, I think I'd just kick in another $200 and get the Bose. If I'm not willing to shell out $1k for the Bose, I'm probably not going to shell out $800 for the DC X11, either. I'm not so sure that the price point is a good one. JKG |

So what advantage does the Bose have over these and the new DC?
--Dan Thomas Borchert wrote: Kobra, Only 799.00... You're kidding, right? This is the kind of headset Lightspeed, Sennheiser, Telex, Pilot Avionics and all the other introduced years if not decades ago. At lower prices. Some at MUCH lower prices. -- Thomas Borchert (EDDH) |

Jonathan,
#1 -- It's not all cheap plastic; Like which of the ones I mention? Each contains a lot of metal in the right places. And who says plastic is automatically bad? #2 -- Company doesn't have a reputation for "great customer service" because their headsets fall apart or have electrical problems; We've been through that. #3 -- Is one heck of a lot smaller (low profile) and probably lighter; Than? #4 -- Folds for compact storage or transport. Some of the ones I mention do that. -- Thomas Borchert (EDDH) |

Dan,
So what advantage does the Bose have over these and the new DC? It's a Bose ;-) Not sure, I don't own one. It's simply that my BS detector goes through the roof when DC brings out a headset with this feature set in the year 2006 (!) and someone claims it is somehow new, innovative, sensational or a "Bose killer". -- Thomas Borchert (EDDH) |

DC is pretty much the leader in aviation headsets, and for good reason. Contrary to your opinion, the reality is that they make a great product at a fair price and--in the rare case you may need customer service--they stand behind their product, often exceeding expectations. Unfortunately, I don't see the DC X11 as a "Bose-killer." Maybe if it were at the $500 price point, it would be a "Bose-killer" if the performance and comfort were as claimed. JKG |

Jonathan,
Specifically, Lightspeed, who seems to have captured the ANR headset market. I suggest you look at them again. There's metal in that band... #3 -- Is one heck of a lot smaller (low profile) and probably lighter; Than? Most of the competing ANR headsets on the market. Bah, humbug. Look at Lightspeed's QFR series, the Sennheisers, the Pilot Avionics... -- Thomas Borchert (EDDH) |

Jonathan,
DC is pretty much the leader in aviation headsets, Can you point to a market analysis supporting that claim? I'd be really interested. -- Thomas Borchert (EDDH) |

Oh, the others sell more, it's just that their stuff breaks so quickly that you only *see* people wearing DC. :-) -- Paul Tomblin http://xcski.com/blogs/pt/ If netcat is compiled with -DGAPING_SECURITY_HOLE, the -e argument specifies a program to exec after making or receiving a successful connection. -- netcat README file |
