Default DEN touch n go without a fee?

How would they not know who to charge? The tower will have your N number.
The registered owner will get the bill. They don't need to know who was
flying. They don't need to track you home. The FAA database is public. Even
the hidden registrations are available to the tower - although it might take
a phone call.

The more likely scenario for free landing at a high use airport is to go in
when nothing is going on. Like 1am. If you ask nicely for the clearance and
sound somewhat professional, chances are, they won't bother to fill out the
paperwork.

No real life info for DEN, but the "official" answer I got at ORD was, "We
can't charge you if we don't know who to charge." Might be the same.

Don't know about DEN, but at IAD and DCA you don't owe any landing fee
unless you leave the movement area. Frankly, at IAD I can tell you
that it's even looser than that. The operators collect the fee. For
a while when I was based there, I neglected to tell the FBO that I had
come and gone. I assumed I'd just get the landing fees on my montly
bill with the parking and fuel charges. Turns out that since I didn't
go up and told them I had flown, they didn't have any record of it.

If it's a rental.

When we operated a rental (flying club) out of IAD,
it was part of the club billing to bill the landing
fee to the renter and pass that along to the airport.

There is a novel concept... charging based aircraft the landing fee in
addition to rent.
Most airports I am familiar with that charge a landing fee do not charge
based aircraft.

I'm not sure that I see your point. Are you trying to say that unless they
have knowledge of who the pilot is that they won't bother to charge?

NavCanada and US airports that charge routinely send the bill to the
registered owner based solely on the tail number. I have received many and
not once did the tower say something like, "could we have the pilot's
address so we don't send the bill to the wrong place?"

I did one -- a stop and go, actually -- a couple years ago. It was at about
0100, however. It's a bit hard to land on a runway that has thousands of
lights everywhere on it. g I've done a couple others at DEN late at night,
also. Never a fee.

I have done touch-n-goes at DEN, no fee. However, your chances of
being allowed to do this before 2200 or 2300 local are almost zero.
