True... although we are looking to spend $200k. Also, a member gets
their buy-in back if they ever leave the club...

We are looking at a proposal to sell the Arrow and replace it with a
1998 or newer 182 with a Garmin GPS. If we did this, we would need to
increase the buy-in from $2,000 to $4,000

That is a pretty sizable jump. Any way you can do it for a little less,
like perhaps a little more per hour?

That would be my suggestion. Big amounts of "cash right now" is harder for
some to manage, than more spread out along a longer time.

I don't understand quite how that works with a club. It seems that you could
give it back if there were someone else to buy it but what happens if you
loose a few members right at TBO time and the club doesn't have the cash?

We set aside reserve monies for TBO. If a few members want to leave,
and for some reason we don't have the cash (rare) we can obtain
financing against the aircraft. There is quite a bit of equity there
(over 3x the share price x # of members). We have 54 members at $2k
each right now, with 4 planes.
