YES I want more information...names and dates of first flight or solo. Anyone that WANTS to be active again in Soaring, or came about it in an unusual way! please get the information to me! You would not believe the huge response! The response has been so large, that I am now compiling a "registry", and hope to have a register available for the convention in February. I have received so many WONDERFUL stories, and I want to include every single one of them! Spread the word. I can't tell you how much fun I had reviewing web pages from Burt Compton's Dad, and one lady who was a member of the Harvard Soaring Club in 1932! GREAT stuff, especially the story about someone's first glider ride being in utereo! Can't get any better than that! I especially liked the one wher a soaring school wrote about 5 generations starting with him! (A soaring pilot for 60 years!) Micki -- |

I am a third generation glider pilot and soon to be the 3rd CFIG. My
grandfather, Fred Robinson is still an active instructor and owner of Great Western Soaring School in Llano Ca. Fred was also awarded by the FAA "Master Pilot" for over 50 years of save flying. visit www.greatwesternsoaring.com Yvonne MickiMinner wrote: Hey, anyone who has a Dad, Mom, Uncle, Aunt, Grandparent, ANYBODY that gave you the "urge" to soar. Or if you are a Dad or Mom, that have your kids crewing for you (Sam Giltner should pay attention here!) I am looking for names and contacts. I am trying to put together a "registry" for a session at the Convention called "generations in Soaring". I know from the racing/competition arena there are lots and lots! Anybody that knows anybody, or if you are a soaring kid yourself, please send me an e-mail! Also, let's not forget Spratt's Brats, or those that are well-trained ground crews, and SCUM members! Janine this means you! Ken, Danny, Mike this means you! John S. this means you! Tommy B. this means you! Peter S. this means you! Aland A, this means you and your daughter Amelia! The Beardens, the Lattimores. I think that gives you an idea of what I am looking for! I am trying to put together a little "something" about the grand family tradition in this sport. I just got an e-mail from a lady today, whose father was a participant in the 1932 soaring contest in Harris Hill. Wow! send all you know about kids/parents/nieces/nephews/grandparents, etc. to Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
