OK, they were never really speed demons either, which hurt their reputation, but still for the price of a good used 172 you can easily pick up a 337, well maintained, worth 160Kt or so and tons more utility than the single, with real, useable twin backup... The Riley conversions are great, but they're typically north of $200k. GF For our contracts the forest service requires turbocharged. This keeps our Single engine service ceiling above the terrain we typically fly. I know you can get them that way from the factory. Air conditioning and pressurizing is nice. Michelle P |
