Perhaps the anonymous author of the article will share his

Maybe it was people years and bird hours

Give me a break...
IT'S THE ONION!!!!
(we're not talking the NYTimes, Newsweek, Fox, or whatever)

It's ok to laugh occasionally, don't take everything so damn seriously.

What nonsense - everyone knows that Sparrows can't talk and they are
terrible typists because they hunt-and-peck.

He's using tach time, not hobbs time.

"Of course it's scary, but I'm not going to stop flying because of
it," sparrow Darryl Beardsley said, echoing the apparent sentiment
of millions of other sparrows worldwide. "I guess it's just my
nature."

Aww c'mon Larry. It is the Onion. This is what they do. I didn't take it
that they were denigrating airmen at all. You can't really enjoy
laughing at others if you can't laugh at yourself first.

True, anyone reading the Onion shouldn't expect much.

Odd that there was no mention of the lack of a filed flight plan.

Oh, now I see.

Satire from a leftist political perspective == funny
Anything else != funny

Thanks for clearing that up.

Now that you mention it, I agree with you. There seems to be a
pattern at the Onion of making fun of different groups of society, and
they do seem to pick on people and groups who can't defend themselves.

For example, consider the following Onion articles which make fun of
Republicans, Democrats, Nancy Pelosi, John McCain, Russell Feingold and
lobsters.

http://www.theonion.com/content/node/31600
http://www.theonion.com/content/news...ts_congress_to
http://www.theonion.com/content/node/49841
http://www.theonion.com/content/node...8&special=2002

I am OK with the Onion making fun of Republicans and Democrats.
However, the last article is a thinly disguised piece aimed at
denigrating lobsters and is not funny. Rather it attempts to
unapologetically ridicule lobsters in the eyes of the lay public
without any redeeming merit.
