It's a small world isn't it. KDMS/KLBQ are now clients of mine.

I worked at the guys across town, KELD in 78-79.

KDMS is gospel now and KLBQ is top 40.

The guys across town now have 4 or 5 stations operating and they are
everything Rock, two Country, Talk and Urban.

Damn! Got any hotels near your airport that need renovation?

;-)

No but feel free to come build one. We will need it.

Well this one is being set up in a way that the donor won't have any say now
that the endowment is made. The school board thought about just this sort of
thing.

Good, but I was thinking more about the way the scholarship bequest
changed Philomath, which was once a little mill town outside another
little town that was the site of the state ag college.

There were other, more important factors behind the change in the
town's character, and the change in itself may be a good thing. But
many people did make the bequest one of the factors that decided them
on Philomath, and that led to more growth and greater mainstreaming
than some of the old-timers expected.

Be careful what you wish for.

Does Murphys Oil also make the soap of the same name?

No relation to the soap. Oil refining, exploration and sales.

And we would really like to see what a little unrestrained growth was like.
El Dorado has lost over 10000 in population over the last 20 years and it
has been close to impossible to recruit new industry to the area.

And just so there is some aviation content in this thread I started.

We have two airports owned by the city and with the exception of the
occasional Murphy Jet it isn't unusual to not hear an airplane at either one
on the weekend.

Oh. " Hasn't been the same since the Frizzell boys left." ;o)

I understand your hope. Good luck.

It is nice to see a company do something worthwhile like that with all
of the money they are stealing from us at the gas pump. Kudos to Murphy
Oil.

Damn it, that sounds like a lot of airports across the country
nowadays...

Around here, the hope is that ethanol (which is currently driving the
price of corn to record highs) will power the farm economy back into
good times. I'll tell you what, it would be nice to see some wealthy
farmers buying some airplanes around here...

Yes, biting the hand that feeds you can have consequences if you aren't
willing to feed yourself.

All in how you read the tealeaves, Matt. I was thinking "No good deed
goes unpunished."
