![]() "Gattman" wrote Hooray for The History Channel, who aired a program last night that presented one 9/11 conspiracy theory after another and blew them all out of the sky like clay pigeons. It also demonstrated why Americans view these theories with such hostility and anger. Of course it won't change the minds of the believers, but it'll help prevent them from planting misinformation in other people's heads. I met one of the lunatics and was forced to listen to him revel me and a few others with tales of conspiracy, while waiting for my oil change to be done. It was amazing, as he gave all of the reasons why this had taken place, to a couple people more gullible than me that made the mistake of acting interested. I attempted to ask him about one point in his argument, and asked him if a more logical reason could be the cause, which he ignored and started spouting something else. I gave up, and remained quite until he left, at which time I proceeded to tell the other people that he was crazy as hell, and gave the complete and logical counter arguments to several of his points. Right before he left, he said something like, Yeah, and some people still believe that we really landed on the moon, too. Wow. I mean, WOW ! ! ! I had always read about people like him, but I had no idea that they were that stupid in person. I came home all worked up, and told my wife all about him. She laughed her ass off. g -- Jim in NC |

![]() "Gattman" wrote The History Channel didn't even try to be objective about it. They just kept blasting away at the theories. On the Loose Change forums, though, of course you can learn how the History Channel experts are involved in the conspiracy. Do you remember the name of the show? I'll have to try and catch it. -- Jim in NC |

As somebody else said, they have to keep revising their story when their theories are shot down. "Gattman" == Gattman writes:
Gattman One of the theories they suggested but didn't fully nuke Gattman was the assertion that a licensed pilot with 250 hours Gattman couldn't have flown a jet into the Pentagon. I have around 800 hours as a PP-ASEL. No IFR ticket. Most of my time in Cessnas, Cubs, and an Aircoupe. Most advanced airplane I've logged time in is 30 hours in a C-182. I posted here before about this, but will post the relevant part again: a few months ago I had an opportunity to "fly" a full-motion DC-10 simulator for about 6 hours (including short breaks), shared with 2 other guys, so maybe 3 hours in either front seat and an hour or more in the 3rd seat (flight engineer). We were all VFR guys. The instructor ran us through take-off, manuvering, and landing, both hand-flying and by the book which involves mostly setting the autopilot and associated buttons, knobs, dials, and bugs. The bottom line: we all could take-off and fly the thing after an hour or two. Landing wasn't a big deal either. The reality is that with no emergencies to bother with it was not hugely more difficult to manuever than, say, my little Aircoupe. Being a computer nerd type helps. So could a pilot with 250 flight hours and 10-20 hours in a full-motion sim, and a death wish, fly a commercial jet into the Pentagon? You bet. -- "Thank you for sending me a copy of your book; I'll waste no time reading it." - Moses Hadas |
