woman compared to a replacement fertility rate of 2.05. That means a
decline of 50% every 20 year generation. This is in part due to harsh
economic conditons but also due to some pretty bad abortion techniques
which were widely used to compensate for poor contraceptive

The economic effects of an aging population will be tragic.
It is racial suicide.
It is going to deplete the Nation of fighting age men.

So, I can think that there are more important things the Russians
could be encouraging for their women than turning them into cannon
fodder.

A propaganda campaigne to raise the status of women and motherhood for
instance without treading on feminist toes (difficult as there are
some lunar ones never satisfied)

as you might guess by my s/n i'm a travel agent.

dude, i've been to Russia on several occasions and have had the
pleasure of experiencing a female soldier firsthand.

let me tell you that she(Ilona)is a high IQ blond beauty that
could out drink me anyday and is quite into martial arts! we had
a blast the last time i was in Moscow and my masculinity was
never threatened.

maybe you cant handle women in any military but i fully approve.
its inevitable so get used to it.

Plonk away Al. I see you conveniently avoided the USAF/USN rapist
charges as if they didn't matter. I guess the unprofessional conduct
of our male military personnel is trivial to you... yet you condemn
the Russians for throwing a female recruiting drive beauty
competition. Russia has some 90,000 women in its conscripted armed
forces and rape is actually LOWER there than in the professional
voluntary US armed forces. Please explain that if you will.
As for your moral outrage, save it. It is hypocritical to say the
least.
And finally, do realize that the Russians have women in their special
forces- an area the US, UK, Italy, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Norway,
Israel, Australia, etc... deny their female soldiers. Female Spetsnaz
are quite deadly and some of the best military snipers in the world.

Well, they are welcome to apply for any service in Sweden as well.
I don't know of any women in the Swedish special forces though... but
that's not because they aren't allowed...
