Speaking of pilot books, Brian Shul had a booth at the Nellis show this last week and was selling special editions of his book for $425 dollars. I didn't have the heart to tell him I read it for free at the library :^p Brian has always been in his own separate world. I worked with him for a couple of years at Holloman in the AT-38 Fighter Lead-In program. This was before his "sled" years. Lots of health issues were going on regarding the burns and scarring. Good guy, but a seagull when it came to flying. Had to throw rocks at him to get him airborne. |

regarding the burns and scarring Where did he get the burns? I meant to ask him directly, but we were crowded with people. I met him at a nearby airshow selling books. The books were high on the dollar also. He is a 'motivational' speaker, he said. Nice guy to talk to, tough. Thx VL |

... Amazon says immediate shipping. It's twenty bucks, which means that even if you pay shipping you get it cheaper than retail. As usual, shipping to Brasil costs almost as much (or more) as the book itself. Total cost of $56.55 with a 2-6 business days delivery, US$37.55 with a 7-11 business days delivery. Or only US$32.55 if you can wait a month or so... :-) And with an exchange rate of almost R$3,00 to the dollar... Oh, man... How I miss the "not so long ago time" when the exchange rate was of about R$1,20 x 1 and I bought books from Amazon every month... |

With regards to business cards, on the front side of Dad's business card from 'Nam there is an orange and white parachute depicted with the following words: --------------------------------------- TEMPORARILY SUSPENDED? NEED A PICK-ME-UP? Contact: CROWN, SANDY, JOLLY GREEN 243.0 Mcs --------------------------------------- ....And on the back side of the card it reads thusly: ---------------------------------------- CONFUSED? FOLLOW THESE STEPS 1. STAY WITH CHUTE/AIRCRAFT. 2. CONSERVE FLARES AND RADIO. 3. ADVISE OTHERS OF YOUR POSITION AND CONDITION. 4. STAY CALM-OTHERS HAVE BEEN RESCUED UNDER WORSE CONDITIONS THAN YOURS. 5. THE BEARER OF THIS CARD, UPON BEING SUITABLY RESCUED, AGREES TO PROVIDE FREE CHEER AT THE NEAREST BAR FOR THOSE MAKING SAID RESCUE POSSIBLE. ------------------------------------------ Life is indeed strange sometimes. I was a demonstration pilot flying a P51D back in the sixties. I know that you couldn't care less Dud, but while you were having a good ol' time flying your P-51, posing for photographs and signing autographs for throngs of adoring fans, back in the sixties Dad was heading off to 'Nam in a chartered DC-8 waving goodbye to his pregnant wife and three boys while the entire family was fighting back tears and wondering if we'll ever see each other again. Our "official" "business" cards as well as our letterheads and envelopes also showed an inverted P51.......and here all these years we thought we had done something original :-) Dudley Henriques International Fighter Pilots Fellowship Commercial Pilot/ CFI Retired For personal email, please replace the z's with e's. dhenriquesATzarthlinkDOTnzt |
