Isn't that the "retro-fit glass cockpit" for certificated airplanes?

If so, I agree -- that would be very, very cool.

Yeah, make those pancake breakfasts so much easier to find.

We don't attend fly-in breakfasts, which are inevitably held on
Saturday mornings. But for the many long cross-country flights we
make, a glass cockpit would be very handy, indeed. Of course, with
dual moving-map GPS, we already rely almost 100% on "glass" already.

In the end, if we are to maintain the value of our older aircraft,
glass upgrades are inevitable. It's just a matter of time before the
cost drops to a point where it becomes affordable.

My first choice was the larger Aeromedix unit, but the thing was just
too large to be installed in my cockpit. They exchanged it for the
Pocket CO very promptly with no questions.

We have the Aeromedix unit hanging on the pilot-side fuselage wall,
just forward of my left elbow. It's a bit large, but in that position
it's out of the way yet close enough to the pilot to hear any alerts,
even with headsets on.

Not from the mirror, with the foam dice?

I need some ideas for Joe -- our new pilot. I'm thinking maybe a
cheapie used handheld GPS, so he can stop following roads everywhere.

Perhaps you're kidding about following roads, Jay; but if you're not,
some instruction in pilotage and dead reckoning would be a much more
useful present than a GPS.
