In my experience, in stressful situations when a loved one in is distress the realities of an emergent medical event and relationships of cause and effect can get extremely confused by the the lay members present. It can be an impediment to care teams and can adversely color the patient's and family's perceptions of diagnosis and/or proposed treatment plans. I am sorry the woman died and proper facilities were not immediately available to accurately diagnose and treat her. Whether or not O2 was available is most likely irrelevant.
