Not trying to start anything here BOb, but who will feel the same way
when you go?

Although your message rings loud and clear, and is understood...

BFD, Mr. Cavelamb. ;-)

I care not what people think and say about me when I'm gone.
I care how people treat me while I'm alive.. when it counts!

Be aware what people say MAY NOT be what they feel. I can attest that
at least two people that have spoken reasonably well of BWB here,
would never state their true feelings... if that's worth in anything.

Bill was a prick once you got to REALLY, REALY know him, IMO.
I told him so in many apparently successful ways right here in r.a.h.
It's why Bill sent his lawyer(s) to ruin me. Bill could dish it out
better than most, but sure as hell couldn't take it....
at least not from me.

Most folks here either don't know the truth as I see it, are blind to
it, are just non confrontational or possibly cowardly on the matter.
Even Bernie hasn't found the cajones to post his real name while
speaking negatively of Bill. Ditto for Lady Pilot or her imposter.

Can I find nice things to say concerning Bill?
Some, but...

To Thine Own Self Be True

Yet here, Laertes! Aboard, aboard for shame!
The wind sits in the shoulder of your sail,
And you are stay'd for.
There ... my blessing with thee!
And these few precepts in thy memory
Look thou character. Give thy thoughts no tongue,
Nor any unproportion'd thought his act.
Be thou familiar, but by no means vulgar.
Those friends thou hast, and their adoption tried,
Grapple them to thy soul with hoops of steel;
But do not dull thy palm with entertainment
Of each new-hatch'd, unfledg’d comrade. Beware
Of entrance to a quarrel but, being in,
Bear't that th' opposed may beware of thee.
Give every man thy ear, but few thy voice;
Take each man's censure, but reserve thy judgement.
Costly thy habit as thy purse can buy,
But not express'd in fancy; rich, not gaudy;
For the apparel oft proclaims the man;
And they in France of the best rank and station
Are of a most select and generous chief in that.
Neither a borrower, nor a lender be;
For loan oft loses both itself and friend,
And borrowing dulls the edge of husbandry.
This above all: to thine own self be true,
And it must follow, as the night the day,
Thou canst not then be false to any man.
Farewell; my blessing season this in thee!

-- William Shakespeare

Over time, Bill sent our relationship over the cliff.
I am hardly alone. Others have met similar fates.

I'm pretty honest where relationships are concerned. I'm not big on
having a boatload of friendly acquaintances to show off at funeral
time.

In my dealings, everyone knows where they stand with me. It's been my
experience after 71 years on this planet that people either like me or
hate me for it. It's the way I'm wired and I make no apologies for it.

Just remember once I'm dead, the most charitable words of praise won't
bring me back... even if you mean them. It's truly a now or never
proposition where actions speak louder than words.. :-)

Thanks for the heads up, Cavelamb. Live long and prosper.

Anybody else here want to add some of their personal recollections of
what Bill was really like.

What I remember most about Bill is the way he held himself in much higher
regard than all the second class citizens with less possessions than
himself. Back in the days when everyone here was more focused on which
participants here were actual pilots, and then actual aircraft owners, Bill
was very rude to those less fortunate than himself. He was vocal in his
opinion that anyone as smart or hard working as himself, could have, should
have, been just as successful as himself, and that someone else's lack of
success was a clear indication of laziness, ignorance or poor decision
making. He would never admit for one minute, how much luck had always
contributed to his success. Much less consider how many times bad luck was
the only think that separated him from his less fortunate peers.

Kind of ironic actually. Bills last flight might have been his very first
experience with real bad luck. I wonder if he would feel the same way today?

Most eloquently stated, and completely understood.

Thanks, BOb.

Nope, it's been a lot longer than that.
