GRIN I ate in, last year. Under my van, for most meals as I recall! ;-( Tell you what. One night next year, we'll go out and eat, my treat! Then you'll have to show me at least one place! -- Jim in NC |

![]() A few years ago I had a hot beef sandwich at the little mom'n'pop Ardy'n'Ed's drive in restaurant/carhop joint up on the northeast corner of the field. Absolutely excellent. West Wing had an episode where they talked about Dry Rub(??) sandwiches. I've never had one myself. Could that be what you had? '...a hot beef sandwich by any other name' Speaking of good Wisconsin sandwiches, I had the best burger EVER in about 1983 outside of Menominee, Wis. The little bar was down an old dirt road from the farm party we were attending. Guy would cook up burgers just once or twice a week - that was it. The place was packed on Burger Night. The secret recipe: The best parts of his freshly slaughtered cow went into the grinder. He said he made his money on the beer :-) Similar scene was repeated in the "Iaccoca" autobiography. Henry Ford II got served T-bone/Porterhouse hamburgers up in the executive dining room. He couldn't understand why no one ever made hamburgers as good as the ones he got at work? Montblack |
