Default soaring on screen

I remember an episode of "Baa Baa Black Sheep" (WWII Pappy Boyington
series, with Corsiars being the main stars...Robert Conrad in a
supporting role) where they used a glider to search for a Radar
ship...then the "command glider" vectored in the Corsairs to destroy
the radar ship...

They made the guy who'd experienced the most recent dead-stick landing
fly the glider... I think it looked pretty much like a 1-34...time
travel in Hollywood is abused to an extreme.

I can't offer any "vectors" to figuer out which episode, etc., etc.

What was the movie about the POW's in the Colditz Castle on the
mountain that fabricated a glider to escape in? Wasn't there a drama
AND a documentary?

James Bond MUST have flown a glider somewhere in that series...

There was a TV show in the '80's about a parapalegic girl who went on
to take flying lessons (if you call power "flying"), and (against her
parents' wishes) soloed in a Stearman...I thought the title was
"Skyward..." Short bit of two gliders zooming over the buildings in
the teen's new home town. Bette Davis was her instructor...Howard
Hessman the washed up mechanic...

Christopher Reeve and Hugh Downs have both displayed some of their
soaring skills on one off TV shows...

Wow...there's more silver screen soaring than I thought!!!

There was an episode of "Baa Baa Black Sheep" in which the Corsair
pilots found an old glider in the jungle (actually a 2-33) and one of
them took off in it and acted as a stealth air controller for an
island attack. I am not making this up.

And there was a cigarette commercial circa 1970 that featured two guys
in 1-23s taking turns doing loops as they puffed on cigarettes...

Thanks for the pointer; I will investigate.

I know of one TV movie, titled "The Birdmen". I have it on the list.

Hmm. I think I remember parachuting, but not gliding...

Indeed. "Skyward". On the list.

OK. I'll have a look.

I've managed to find some episode lists of this show, but I don't see
any mention of a glider. Could someone who has actually seen the show
take a gander? Maybe it'll jog loose a memory or two.

Here's the first season:

And here's the second:

You'll find a mass landing of Waco CG-4's, plus a pick-up take-off of a
CG-4 by a DC-3, at the end of the war movie "Objective Burma", by Raoul
Walsh, starring Errol Flynn. Look
herefor more
information.

Thank you. I have put the DVD on order. I'll add the picture to the
list once I have some screenshots.

John, I know you already have "The Boy Who Flew With Condors" on your
list. I wish this movie was available on DVD because it would help
promote the sport of soaring. FYI the Disney page has a link on it to
"vote" for it to be re-released on DVD. Aparently Disney is taking
requests so please follow the link and vote for the DVD to be released:
