Nawh, we can just create two new groups underneath
rec.aviation.piloting...
rec.aviation.piloting.wantabes
rec.aviation.piloting.neverbes

But if you create sub-groups based on what might be called the "arrogance of
accomplishment", you must carry the process through. Terry (the OP) wants
all to know that he respects us and is willing to offer help, even though he
has over 2000 hours. Will there be groups restricted to those who have
flown military?.... transports?.... jets of any kind?...... really wicked
big jets? .....over 10K hours? .... over 20K hours? over 30K? Where do you
end it? The only lasting result will be devisiveness.

I mean, there are quite a few things I am enthusiastic about
and in which I stand very little chance of ever participating,
for instance space exploration or some sports, and about which
I probably hold quite a few misconceptions, so I can somehow
relate.

How dare you dash my hopes? I'm only 66 and was still planning on
applying:-))

Would you suggest creating a new forum requiring a valid pilot
certificate number to participate?

there are other issues than age; besides, I remember clearly
the day I realized I would not be an astro/cosmo/spationaute:
the day I had a close look at the inside of a Gemini capsule
(on display in a museum), I was about twelve, and asked where
was the bathroom in this thing...

No. What I WOULD suggest is that someone who has no concept of what
flying an aircraft is like doesn't need to act like he does. If that
sentence made any sense.

But he does have *some* concept. Much of it wrong or misunderstood because
his entire experience base comes from the aircraft flight characteristics as
defined by MS Sim.

...I suppose my first question to such an arrogant posting
would be what do you consider a "real" pilot and what if
another pilot doesn't agree with your definition?

If another Troll comes out of the woodwork to defend a Troll but nobody
reads it, is he really Trolling?

For that matter, if a man says something and a woman isn't there to hear it,
is he still wrong?
