One big difference between a protectorate and a colony was that
anyone born in a colony, including blacks, was automatically
granted full British Citizenship. People born in Egypt were still
Egyptians although things got fuzzy towards the end.

Wrong (well, maybe part right, but certainly nowhere near the main
answer). Care to guess again, or might you perhaps take a history
course?
