Measured current draw, PowerFlarm Brick
PF manual does not list typical power consumption. Because PowerFlarm
can supply power to other devices, this is a variable figure. The manual says only "up to 1.2 Watts", or 1 amp at 12V. That's rather a lot, so I decided to check. My PF brick is connected to a Butterfly 57mm flarm panel display and ClearNav (via serial port). I measure 170 mA at 12.4 VDC, which is reassuringly small. -Evan Ludeman / T8 |

Bart Did you make independent measurements?, Based on the quoted measurement and assuming ideal power behavior it would be ~165mA at 12.0 VDC. Actual power consumption will depend to some extent on the environment (e.g. other equipped gliders nearby etc.). Darryl |

I only stated that 1.2W at 12V requires current draw of 100mA, not 1A. Bart |

In any case, 170 mA is a pretty good measurement. That's sitting in my driveway with GPS and flarm transmission active, no threats. -Evan / T8 |
