instruction in my area ... Anyone have anything interesting - good or not so
good - to share about them? ...

I've never been to a SSH meeting, but I have driven through cities that were
playing their radio adds. Some of the things on the radio were a little hard
for me to swallow. I know there is a shortage of pilots out there, but SSH was
making it sound like you get your license, they give you a job, build some time
and go out and do EMS, Logging, Corporate, or anything else you want. If only
it were that easy!

I would say go to the meeting, make a list of what they say so you can look at
it later without a salesman talking to you and then make your decision.

Mark.. you did not say where you are..

They have a very busy business in Las Vegas, home station. They sell
training, financed.. and maybe even a promise of employment.. I've heard
upwards to $55K debt is possible. Commercial IFR Helo Pilots.. and possibly
some experience in heavy lift and sling load operations.

Might be worth the visit to hear their pitch. There was a recent article in
the local papers about them. The pilots that make it to Full Commercial IFR
with them are well screened to get to that point.

I fly with Silver State, once in awhile, here in Las Vegas. Good
instructors and a very well run operation. They seem to be very successful
and very professional. They have a financing package available also.

Whether or not that would be a good investment is something you need to
investigate further, but if you decide to do it, Silver State Helicopters
seems like a good place to get your ratings.
