Hmmm, not too sure about that one Mitch, I think the Kiwis bought their
Mustangs from the US.

All Mustangs were made in the US. Other countries
supplied their own modifications to them.........

Apart from the almost 200 that were made by CAC in Melbourne in 1944 - 46

i always like how brits will claim they designed it. it was a pure north
american aircraft corp design. the brits first bought it and they get
credit
for the merlin engine, but even those were made here by packard and
improved upon.

They never claim they designed it, but they did issue the specs. How could
Packard ever improve a Merlin?

Another few "brit" initiations.

1. Mirror Landing System - throw away your bats lads.

2. Angled Flight Decks.

3. Armoured Flight Decks.

4. Steam Catapults.

And

5. Missile Silos.

Think very carefully before you jump in.

Redesigned it for mass production, for assembly by semi-skilled workers,
not 'watchmakers' and custom fitting that Rolls Royce used.

Packard Merlins apparently also came with a standard toolkit, which always
impressed the ground crews.
