Default LX9000 File system corruption

Today I turned on my LX9070 and got a message that the file system was corrupted and the unit would enter the Safe Mode with very limited navigational functions included no flight logging. Indeed, it was so limited that it was basically useless. I flew with a paper map instead. After flying I searched the manual for any reference to file corruption and the safe mode and the only thing I could find was that it might occur following a power interruption. Does anybody know how to restore the LX9000 to normal operation? I did use my S10 backup flight computer to log my flight.

You could try loading the latest firmware on it before going any further.

I tried updating the firmware but it could not find the firmware file on the SD card even though that was the same card I successfully used to update the firmware a few weeks ago.

I’ve seen it before, and just like with my computer, I refused to start in safe mode and instead restarted normally and all was well. Did you try that?
Also I recall earlier that you mentioned you using GS and TAS info to figure out instantaneous HW/TW component. This is not necessary. There is a navbox for it but it is not very well advertised.
And last, you may want to join the LXNAV mailing list.

I asked this question of LXNAV and got this reply:

Please try to power on unit without inserted SD card.

So, today I tried that and it booted up normally (with a brief message to the effect "recovering flight log"). I inserted the offending SD card and it worked normally.
