Default [OT] Where to post?

Yes, I know it's bad to START a thread off-topic, but I have no idea
how else to ask.

OK, in my quest to look for bibliographies so I can do research for
school, I figured I'd look on USENET.

Unfortunately, I have no idea where to begin looking. Side-factor is
that I only know English; Not even passable or tourist-level in any
other languages (not for lack of trying!).

The topics I'm doing papers on:

1. Western Sahara

2. Jacobinism in Turkey under Ataturk

Any suggestions on where I should poke around on USENET for each of
these?

John

A local library only works if you know what to look for.

As far as the rest, the instructors want dead-tree sources.

Just to satisfy my curiosity, what are you looking for, and what are dead-tree
sources?

Sounds good to me. But why not call them that, or is "dead-tree sources" a new
buzz word intended to make the users think they're smarter than the rest of us?

I'd work with web sites first (via Google or your favorite search engine).
Don't think you'll find much on USENET.

I agree with Mark. You also might want to more closely define Western Sahara.
Does it include Libya, Algeria, Chad, Morocco? Having done that, what are you
looking for in those areas? History? Politics? Geography? Economics?
Ethnicity? What?

As for Jacobinism in Turkey under Ataturk, I found several hits in that area in
Google. You need to do the same and get on with YOUR homework. Don't expect
the readers here to do it for you.

Western Sahara wants to be a country, I don't think it designates a
part of a Continent (just as South Africa).

One good web resource would be findarticles.com, which has
free downloadable articles from a wide range of reputable
journals and magazines.
