Default Condor Glider Flight Simulator Resources

For the sake of convenience in getting started with using the Condor Glider Flight Simulator, I've compiled some of the currently available resources on Condor. Other than some compilation of information, I don't offer anything new here that Scott Manley hasn't already offered to the world after many, many hours of his hard work. At the link below, you can find:

Lesson Plans (Google doc) - Link to a Google doc that copies (verbatim with the exception of lesson plan numbering) all of Scott Manley's Condor Lesson plans from glidercfi.com. This is a compilation of all the lesson plans in one doc for the sake of convenience in case you want to print them or save them as a PDF. To save as your own Google doc, as a PDF, as a Microsoft word doc or some other formats: Once you are viewing the Google doc, File Download as take your pick

Replay Files (.rpy) files - Google drive folder with all the replay files in one location. This makes it easier to load them all at once onto your PC. These files are extremely valuable and based on many hours of hard work (by Scott Manley) in creating the perfect (or almost perfect) example of a maneuver. Example: the file "Crosswind_Landing.rpy" is incredibly instructive when viewed from the cockpit view and other external views. As a demonstration before the actual flight lesson, files like this cannot be duplicated by using your hands, a glider model or a white board. Plus, the crosswinds in Condor are always available.

Flight Plan (.fpl) files - Google drive folder with all the flight plan files in one location. This makes it easier to load them all at once onto your PC. Flight Plan files are used to set parameters that include the airport, terrain, time of day, weather, the glider model and launching details. These files make it easy to start a lesson with the right set of conditions.

Study Guide (PDF) files - Google drive folder with all the study guide files in one location. This makes it easier to load them all at once onto your device for easy reading. Scott Manley has created a hand full of study guides to compliment some of the above mentioned replay files. The study guide can used by a student (without instructor) or can be used by an instructor to learn how to use Condor for instruction.

Flight Track (.ftr) files - Google drive folder with all the flight track files in one location. This makes it easier to load them all at once onto your PC. A Condor Flight Track file is similar to an IGC file in that it allows you to analyze your flight using Condor's Flight Analysis function. Example: the effects of crosswinds in the traffic pattern are easily seen by examining the ground track resulting from varying degrees of crosswind correction.

Condor Corner (PDF) file - I've compiled all four years of the column "Condor Corner" from Soaring magazine into one PDF. At the beginning, I created a table of contents with a outline of each article. The goal was to make the articles into a resource that would be easier to learn the detailed ins and outs of getting started in Condor.

All of my resources were current as of April 2016. I suggest that you visit glidercfi.com to find Scott Manley's most current resources. He is constantly adding to his collection.

Nicely done! Thanks for compiling this in one place. I'd encourage anyone with an interest in using simulation for soaring training to take advantage of these links. It's never been easier and there are now several clubs that have reported good progress in using simulation as part of the training process.

We just updated the Soaring Club of Houston's Condor Lesson plans with lessons that Russ Holtz has shared on gliderbooks.com. Russ created a system of dozens of great lessons that work in Condor's Flight School. Follow the link below and then select "Condor Lesson Plans". Now, our lesson plans include the hard work of both Scott Manley and Russ Holtz - Thanks!

Also below; 1) convenient collection of files to load onto your PC at the link titled "Condor Files". 2) "Guides & Manuals" lists docs that are useful for understanding the how and the why to use Condor. Anything that we created, you are free to use as you wish.
