Helicycle down
Erie Col. Newspaper item about a Helicycle crashed during landing,
collapsed one side of the gear and rolled. A rolled helicopter has a spinning thingy on top and it usually hits the ground when the helo rolls. The ride experienced by the pilot shortly after the blade hits the ground can be remarkable to say the least. The Colo. pilot received only minor injuries to his body, but major injuries to his helicopter. Cause TBD. -- Stuart & Kathryn Fields, Publishers Experimental Helo magazine P. O. WTF?? How does one do that? Still wanna build one someday... I had to read again, too. It is the normal procedure! Otherwise the helicopter doesn't fly at all ;-) |

Kevin: That was a feeble attempt at humor. The control system behind the
seat belt was the pilot. -- Stuart & Kathryn Fields, Publishers Experimental Helo magazine P. O. Kevin: Where do you apply for one of those "Vacations"? I'm retired and
can't seem to find one of those "Vacations", unless you count the 13 or so aviation events that I attend each year. We leave Saturday to attend Homer Bell's Helicopter fly-in at Hillsboro Ohio. Homer's is reputed to be the biggest experimental helicopter fly-in that the World sees. I expect at least 12 Helicycles, a bunch of Rotorways, hopefully some Mosquitos and I know some Safaris. This is not to mention the Bell 47s, Bell 206, Enstroms, Brantleys, R-22and R44s and usually a Huey or two. If you are interested in Helicopters, and I've assumed that you are based on some of your postings, you would really enjoy Homer's. There will be some beer drank so I suppose it would partially qualify as a "Vacation"? Oh I forgot, I have to go to Oshkosh after that. -- Stuart & Kathryn Fields, Publishers Experimental Helo magazine P. O. Sorry, I've been on vacation for the past two weeks and I think the beer and tequila has affected my brain. |
