Default boat fenders on winch launch strops

We at north wales gliding club have used 10 inch white
or blue mooring buoys fastened to the weak link end
secured to the shackle with 6mm dia rope of about
300mm long in a loop to allow ball freedom of movement
on the strop this has made strop recovery fast we have
used this system for the last 2 years the 6mm dia rope
is the part that wears most so watch it or loose your
balls.
