Default Eu 15&open championship

A quote from the recent contest.
A Finnish competitor remarked:
„Is it really necessary to start during a thunderstorm?”
Answer from Contest Management:
“This is not a thunderstorm. It is a local shower with lightning.”

Udo

I don't care what our judicially appointed president says about Old
Europe--that's a manly way to start a race!

15M is being held in NEW Europe, which may explain
all.
Also, note the contest to be the first to retract gear
on tow .... seems pretty silly to me, but no doubt
enlivens a contest with terrible weather. The posted
pix make it look as though it is gear up almost before
the glider is actually flying.

Would you care to elaborate a little what you mean by "NEW" and the
things it "may explain"? Just a bit confused...

BTW, is it really something new to retract the gear during tow?
