Default Flarm firware update tries produce "Synchronization Failed" message.

I have been trying to apply the latest Flarm firmware update to the Flarm in our ASG-32Mi with an LX9000 installed.

I have tried many times and every time the result is a "Synchronization Failed" message. I have looked for an explanation of this error message in the Flarm manuals, on the Flarm.com website, on the web in general, on rec.aviation.soaring and have found nothing.

Does anyone know what is going on with my update attempts?

You can't update the flarm in a 9000 unless you've installed all updates
for the 9000 first. Done? Check the LXnav website.

I speak from experience.

Do all the previous updates need to be put into the portable FLARM too? My unit shows 6.09 on startup, but only shows transponders, no FLARM targets. I may have taken it back to zero updates while trying to get 6.09 in. I hate this digital crap!

If 6.09 shows, you should be good. Did you re-install your flarmcfg.txt file after the firmware update? Something may have gone astray when the old one was replaced.

The other possibility, since pcas/transponders show and flarm doesn't, is that your flarm antenna may have a problem. I'd unscrew and screw it back in and see if that works.

Cheers

Dan
