Default Planes Down in Iowa

Some sad notes to mar an otherwise perfect Easter Sunday to fly here in
Iowa. Incredibly, we've experienced not one, but TWO fatal crashes near
Iowa City.

In the first one, at a small airport nearby, a Cherokee 235 crashed on
takeoff and exploded in flames, killing the pilot, Andrew Bryon, a woman,
Connie Stewart, and her 11 year old daughter, Karen.

Another daughter, 8 year old Sarah, was thrown clear of the crash but badly
burned. She was life-flighted here to Iowa City's University Hospital burn
center.

Video of the site is available here http://makeashorterlink.com/?C57E412CA ,
or Google "KCRG" (TV station.)

In the other crash, which occurred south of Iowa City, a couple of guys in
their homebuilt biplane were killed, in unknown circumstances. The news
footage looked like the typical paint job of a Christen Eagle, but I really
couldn't tell what it was.

Our prayers go out to the families.
