New research on mountain wave
There is a new large scale research project being conducted on the
Sierra wave. Perhaps better wave forecasting tools will be developed that could help glider pilots predict monster wave. Kempton? http://news.dri.edu/nr2006/mar_trex.htm |

New research on mountain wave
Also, it is possible to get real-time meteorlogical data from ground
stations set up to measure the wave. Go to the link and then click on the red thumb tacks to get the data for various locations. http://www.wrcc.dri.edu/trex/ |

New research on mountain wave
Yes, we've been aware of the notices the radio sonde drops by the
group. It's good to see this project continuing. With luck we may yet see some workable wave before summer... I've always maintained that what I fly is not a glider, but an Meteorologic Research Vehicle (MRV). Ah, that sounds tax deductible! Kemp |
