Default GPS in overcast and mist

My Garmin 12 is not able to get data from any satellites right now.
It's 2000 overcast, scattered 5 sm visibility. Normally the GPS works
very well in this area with reliable data from about 6 sats. I don't
think I want to be in a position where my handheld GPS is my only means
of nav.

Something else is wrong. The weather should have no effect.
