Default NASA Air Carrier Survey Data Released

The Coalition for an Airline Passengers' Bill of Rights (CAPBOR)
has compiled and made available on its Web site a spreadsheet that
the group claims brings some clarity to the results of NASA's
controversial National Aviation Operational Monitoring Service
(NAOMS) project.

That information is available he

On News Year's Eve 2007, NASA released a heavily redacted "report"
regarding an $11 million survey they ran between 2001 and 2004.
The data were released in formats virtually impossible to analyze.

Notable results:

* 168 reports of landing an aircraft without getting clearance.
* 1528 reports where aircraft diverted to an alternate airport or
returned to land because of an aircraft equipment problem.
* Hundreds of reports where aircraft had uncommanded movements of
rudders, ailerons, spoilers, speedbrakes, etc, in flight!
* Hundreds of reports of in-flight smoke, fumes and fire in
engines, flight decks, passenger cabins, etc.
* 2339 reports where Air Traffic Control refused to requests to
change course due to severe weather.
* Over four thousand reports where reserve fuel was required to
stay flying.

NASA's response to the Congressional inquiry (raw data)is available

This is the report the Bush Administration and the FAA and
NASA tried to hide at first but it got leaked from the
inside by a NASA employee.

Right after the whistle blower tooted his horn a typical
Government response comes out with a good bull**** lie story
spinning it like they intended to release the report "later"

Typical Government ass covering lie bull**** propaganda for
the stupid and oblivious general populace.

Most of our Government is self serving and evil.
IRS+Government+Banks=666

The FAA is a fat man on thin ice regarding Air Traffic
control safety and stability. Soon that cracking sound will
be heard somewhere over the skies of America or at a runway
intersection. People will turn to human toast and a pink
mist in an instant and the nations air traffic control
system will change forever. Just like Grand Canyon in the 50's.

We will re-militarize the ATC system with military and Air
Force control using FAA as gap fillers. Most FAA people will
be ex-military and qualified like the former proud FAA so
the social engineering and "Kissing the Black Ass" stupidity
and diversity waste will end.

The FAA will come out much better but people will die first.
By the hundreds. You know something bad is going to happen
by just reading the controller and technical FAA blogs.
As the FAA cuts controllers and equipment and technical
staff they expand "Social" programs and civil rights staffs.
It is all a FAA CIVIL RIGHTS SCAM

STOP PC Tyranny

First I don't remember any mention of the White House having any input
as to if this report was released or not.

But the reason that NASA didn't want it released is because of exactly
what has happened. A bunch of uninformed morons are yelling the sky is
falling when in fact it is stay up there just fine and the airplanes
that fly in it are tooling around more safely than at any time in history.

The skies are actually more crowded than ever to the point where in
fact major carriers reduced the number of flights this holiday season
due to safety concerns. To put it in simple terms for you Mr Slug, the
system has not changed but the number of airplanes in that system has
almost tripled in the last 3 decades. Please use common sense and
common logic and come to an intelligent decision. Blind belief in our
criminal government is what diminished our once mighty and great
nation into a nation of bigots and ignorant arrogants. the number of
runway incursions has been steadily climbing and there were more near
mid-air collisions than ever before due to an overcrowded system and
pilot and controller incompetence. So my question to you Mr Slug, is
on what scientific data have you based these ludicrous comments of
yours?

And also Mr Slug your racist comments are really disgusting. You
should be ashamed of yourself for being a bigot, hypocrite and plain
simply a liar. Clearly the spirit of the Pilot is absent in you.
