Default Garmin 296 - Fuel Timer

Hi Folks,

Can someone with a Garmin 296 please tell me how the fuel timer works -
whenever I set it on the gound it keeps going back to zero - I can't figure
the thing out!

Many thanks,

CC

OK ...

.... I go into SETUP - flick to the TIMERS tab - Move down to FUEL TIMER and
select ON.

I move accross to the next field and set it for something like 4 hours.

1 second later (on the next screen refresh) it goes back to zero.

Basic problem is I don't understand how it's supposed to work - I would have
thought that one would set it for some value (say 30 minutes) at which point
it would count backwards to zero - display an alart message - reset to 30
minuts - and start counting down. Possibly starting when the GPS detects
motion of the aircraft.

If I set the timer to off I can get it to hold a setting - but as soon as I
turn it to on it goes right to zero.

Cheers,

CC

Colin,
It does not sound like you are pressing enter after you have entered
the time. If you press the rocker key to the left twice, this will
clear the values that you have input into the field.

The timer will only start once you have reached 30knots, according to
Garmin.

Have you established an aircraft profile with a burn rate, and is that
the active aircraft profile when you set the timer?

(I've never used this feature, since my watch work better: two hours
and I look for a runway!)
