Default Concorde: All Party Support...2012

A new bid to save Concorde for the nation and see it flying again has been
launched by an all-party group in London spearheaded by Montgomeryshire MP
Lembit Opik.

The Save Concorde Group in Westminster believes the supersonic aircraft
could be given a new lease of life at air shows. They also want to use the
aviation icon in a flypast at the 2012 Olympics.

They are holding a series of meetings with British Airways at Heathrow and
Airbus at Hawarden in North Wales this month in a bid to find out exactly
how much it would cost to restore Concorde and get it airborne again.

Mr Opik said today: "I believe Concorde is part of our national heritage
and symbolic of what Britons - and indeed the French - can do technically
when they really put their heads together."

For further information, please join http://www.save-concorde.org.uk
your support for this GREAT British aviation icon will be most
appreciated.

Best regards,

Steve

This was attempted before the planes were actually grounded. The costs
are extraordinarily high, and only one outfit in Europe can handle such
a task and won't.

Aside from the fact that it's supersonic, nothing else about the plane
wows me. It was a cramped, loud, uncomfortable ride.

We should be looking ahead to new technologies to enable supersonic
travel. The Concorde will never fly again.
