That's a gravel suppression kit. They help keep the nosewheel from
kicking up too much FOD on unimproved runways; saves wear and tear on
the fuselage undersides as well as diminishing the engines'
opportunity to ingest stuff more chewy than air...

You'd think they'd have the optional goose deflector as well.
