Default Beer Served to Pilots in Iowa -- All Survive!

Normally I wouldn't post about our own party, but since no one in attendance
will be able to post until after Oshkosh, I thought I might post a little
round up for those who couldn't make it:

a) Many beers were served. In fact, we had to buy more beer mid-way through
the evening. No injuries were reported.
b) Momentary shame was felt by all in attendance. It passed.
c) A toast to Larry was drunk. (Drank?)
d) Volleyball was played in the pool by scantily clad people.
e) Some of us danced.
f) Much food was consumed.
g) We ran out of chairs, and people were forced to eat on their laps. (I
hate that!)
h) Barnyard Bob and Jim Weir are even more crazy in person than they are on
line!

Despite iffy weather all day long that kept many pilots away (my phone rang
all day long with guys apologizing for being "stuck in Kansas City"), the
weather was PERFECT for a pool party and we are filled to capacity tonight
with folks who drove or flew in unexpectedly. We've got folks here from
California, Arizona, New Zealand (!), and all points in between!

In short, our First Annual Pre-Oshkosh Pool Party was a rousing success.
We're already planning for 2004!

But did Bob drink beer, or Muzzleloader?

In other words: "Is he dead yet?"

I sincerely hope these were local ringers you brought in to entertain
the pilots... I don't even want to think what all the people in this
newsgroup look like scantily clad...

What? Larry was drunk? After all that hub-bub in the newsgroup?

I don't even know where Iowa is (damn the poor geography skills taught in
Canadian pubic schools!) but it sounds like so much fun that I'll have to
fly in next year!

thanks for the update Jay. I got on this morning for the sole purpose of
seeing how it went. Glad to hear that they were all personally responsible
enough to not need a lawyer to blame someone else for their own actions

Remember...next year...live video....

Draw a line between Winnipeg and Thunder Bay. South of that line is
Minnesota. Minnesota sits on top of Iowa. Minnesota is between Canada and
Iowa.

Following the Mississippi river (south) out of Minnesota (the river's
headwaters), Iowa is west of the Mississippi river. This river forms the
eastern border for the state of Iowa.

Jay's Inn is near the top of the southeast quadrant of Iowa - near the
Mississippi river. Head east (toward the Mississippi river) from where major
US freeway interstates I-80 and I-35 cross. (They cross right in the middle
of the state)

Take I-80 (east). You'll soon run into Iowa City ...then look for the
airport....then the Inn.

Barnyard Bob was drinking Killian's Irish Red Lager.

Ah, well, no wonder all survived. Next time, you simply must
obtain a quantity of Muzzleloader from El Pollo Loco aka Chuck
the Cluck aka Chuck Slu@#!%&!*(!^

Still, we never got him in the pool....

If being "scantily clad" was a prerequisite, perhaps this is
a Good Thing *ducking*

If not, I would have thought this was a problem you could
solve with sufficient application of mass and momentum, a
good pair of sneakers, and some "oil" for the "troubled
waters" which would doubtless ensue.

Jay, you didn't mention the lift demonstration...

Hey, I'm packin' for OSH here! *grumble* * mumble*

But, yep, we did do some flying demos of the "Lifter"! Everyone was duly
amazed, some were struck dumb with awe (or was it with Killian's?), and all
had a good time. It truly is an amazing thing to see.

(Greg, maybe you can expand on this. Mary's upstairs yelling, and we're
taking off tomorrow AM at o'dark-thirty...)

And no one touched the 27,000 volt wires!

No injuries were reported.

Gosh, thank goodness. After Larry's well-reasoned warning, I'd been picturing
the cornfields all around Iowa city littered with high wings (us savvy
low-wingers know better, of course) upside down like June Bugs around the porch
light the next morning. What luck!

Save me a cold beer...due to the demands of unimportant trivia like work, I'll
be straggling into OSH on Sunday.
