Actually balloon launch is one of the oldest methods for launching
gliders. Probably comes right after foot launching.

Hehe...I suppose this is "aerotow."
But what I really want is the first sport pilot-glider-astronaut.
The White Knight glider had something like a 135knot IAS?
Well, make it a little slower (120knots) and we have a deal, right?


I've corresponded with the clusterballoon guy. It seems
good soaring weather (violent thermals, strong ridge, or
wave) and balloons don't mix so well...
