I hope to goodness that the nose hair is just a perspective issue.

Wonder if she is restorable. Looks pretty rough. Of course when I win
the lottery, restoration questions might be moot.

Nothing growing out of the fuselage. The bush is a way behind.

It sat on/in a lake for many years apparently before someone lifted it out
with a helicopter! I think there's film of that around on the net
somewhere.

Allocated to the 10th Air Rescue Squadron based at Elmendorf AFB-AK,
USAAF OA-10A Sr.Nr. 44-33954, forced landing after starboard engine threw a rod, sept. 1947.
She was then nicknamed The Queen of Dago Lake.



Reg as N44BY ntu, then N57875.
Various failed attempts to recover the ship over the years.



She was lifted up (and 'flew again') by Penelope in 1987 to Anchorage.
