Now that you mention it, I'm considering
http://www.aerosmithaviation.com/ in East Texas for refurbishing a C172.
They sound very professional (don't they all do...?) and the painting
quotes they gave me are in tune with a couple of other shops in CA and
NJ. They not only do painting but also refurbish interiors, which I
would also like to do, so I rather have one shop do the whole thing...
Anyone has references of Aerosmith Aviation...? Just curious...

Paul

I once owned a Cherokee 180 (N1827T) that was painted by Goodner Bros.
for previous owners. They did a great job, IMHO

Mena is ok. They are about the lowest priced also.

You need to be very specific about what you want - go there with photos and
tell them the type of paint and so on - don't assume anything.

The other names I haven't dealt with.

What are you finding the prices to be for a 180 sized airplane? I
live just a bit north of South Carolina.

TIA, Chris

I can't access the first part of this thread, so I'll just jump in and hope
the information is useful....

The previous owner of my airplane (1969 C-172 K) had it painted by Dove
Aviation in Darlington, SC in April of 2000. They seem to have done a good
job with it. The plane was chemically stripped and then painted with Jet
Glo according to log book entry.

Stripping, Base, and Two Colors appears to have been $5400 at the time.

My partners and I seem to have settled on Grace Air, near Florence, SC, for the
paint and interior on the Mooney. They are quoting in the neighborhood of $6-7K
for the paint, and about the same for the interior (I don't have the exact
figures with me). Their schedule is full 'til May next year. We may be signing a
contract for the work shortly.

Any feedback about Grace Air is welcome. Thanks.
